Mari Mari Narváez is a Puerto Rican journalist, writer, and human rights activist. She is the founder and Executive Director of Kilómetro Cero, a non-profit organization that aspires to a Puerto Rico in which the State protects human life, freedoms and dignity in the pursuit of public safety, for a more democratic and just society. Km0 develops projects that bolster community empowerment in the areas of police use of force, repression of dissent, and gender violence. Mari-Narváez herself grew up in a household of activists and amidst political turmoil, witnessing state violence against anti-colonial freedom fighters in various forms throughout her life, including against her own family.
